Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-05-19

Last updated: 2026-05-19

Historical versions of these Terms are retained at /terms/v1, /terms/v2, etc.

1. Acceptance

By creating an invoke account, accessing the invoke website at invoke-books.com, or using the invoke mobile app, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use invoke.

2. Who we are

invoke is an AI audiobook generation service. Operating entity details will be added once company registration is complete. For all current purposes, please contact privacy@invoke-books.com.

3. The service

invoke lets you:

  • Upload books (PDF, EPUB) and generate audiobook narrations using AI text-to-speech.
  • Browse a curated catalog of public-domain audiobooks generated by invoke from public-domain sources.
  • Purchase coins or a subscription to unlock catalog content or to fund generation runs.

We may add, change, or remove features over time. We try to communicate material changes in advance.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use invoke. By signing up you warrant that you are 16 or older. We collect birthdate at signup and refuse accounts below the threshold. If we discover that an account belongs to a user under 16, we delete the account on an expedited basis (see Privacy Policy § 10).

5. Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Notify us at privacy@invoke-books.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • You may not share, sell, or transfer your account.
  • You may close your account at any time via the in-app deletion option (where available) or by emailing privacy@invoke-books.com.

6. Your content

6.1 What "your content" means

"Your content" means anything you upload to invoke — source documents (PDF, EPUB), associated metadata, and any settings you configure — together with the audiobooks generated from those uploads.

6.2 Content-rights warranty

By uploading content to invoke, you warrant that you have the legal right to upload, process, and generate audiobook output from that content. This means one of:

  • You own the copyright; or
  • The content is in the public domain in the country whose law applies to your use; or
  • You have an explicit licence from the copyright holder that permits the processing invoke performs.

You are responsible for verifying this before uploading. We do not pre-screen uploads (see § 6.5) and we follow the procedure in § 6.6 when we receive credible infringement notices. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that materially violate this warranty.

6.3 License you grant to invoke

For the content you upload, you grant invoke a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:

  • Process and analyse your uploads in order to generate the audiobook output you requested;
  • Store your uploads and outputs on our infrastructure for the duration set out in the Privacy Policy § 7;
  • Listen to a sample of generated audiobooks internally for the purpose of quality assurance, as described in the privacy policy.

This licence does NOT grant invoke the right to:

  • Publicly display, distribute, or share your content with other users;
  • Sublicense your content to third parties;
  • Use your content for marketing of invoke;
  • Use your content to train AI models, without your separate, explicit opt-in.

Your content remains yours. We are a processor of it for the purpose of delivering the service you asked for.

6.4 Public-catalog content

Audiobooks in our public catalog are generated by invoke from public-domain sources and are not subject to the warranty in § 6.2 because we — not you — are responsible for the source. See About our catalog for details on how we determine public-domain status. If you believe a catalog title is in error, please contact copyright@invoke-books.com.

6.5 invoke's role

invoke provides the generation tool and storage for your outputs. invoke does not pre-screen uploaded content for copyright and does not determine whether your use is permitted under your local law. The warranty in § 6.2 governs that question; you are responsible for your uploads.

Generating an audiobook through invoke does not grant or confer any audiobook, distribution, derivative-work, or other rights in the underlying work. Where local law provides an exception or limitation that may permit your particular use (for example, a personal-use or private-copy exception in some jurisdictions), determining whether that exception applies to your specific circumstances is your responsibility.

6.6 Copyright complaints and takedown procedure

If you believe content uploaded by a user, or an audiobook generated through invoke, infringes a copyright you own or are authorised to represent, please send a written notice to copyright@invoke-books.com including:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  3. Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (for example, the account, the audiobook ID, or a description of the upload).
  4. Your contact information — name, address, email, and telephone number.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the rightsholder, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rightsholder or authorised to act on the rightsholder's behalf.

We review credible notices, remove or disable access to material we determine to be infringing, and notify the affected user. If you believe content you uploaded was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice to the same address.

invoke has adopted and informs users (via this section) of a repeat-infringer policy: accounts that are the subject of repeated, credible infringement notices are terminated.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use invoke to process content you don't have the rights to, in violation of § 6.2.
  • Use invoke to generate content depicting illegal acts, child sexual abuse material, or content intended to harass, defame, or threaten others.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the service in ways that compromise its security or other users.
  • Scrape, hammer, or attempt to overload the service.
  • Resell access to invoke or operate it as a downstream service.
  • Bypass payment, rate-limit, or quota controls.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that materially violate these rules. We aim to give notice + an opportunity to respond, except where doing so would materially harm other users or the service.

8. Payments, coins, and refunds

8.1 In-app purchases

Coins and subscriptions are sold via your platform store (Apple App Store or Google Play). The store handles the payment, your card details, and the platform-level refund flow. invoke receives a confirmation from the store and credits your account.

8.2 Currency: invoke coins

Coins are an in-app currency used to fund audiobook generation runs. They are not money, they cannot be transferred between accounts, they cannot be converted back to fiat, and they expire on account deletion subject to the platform refund policies.

8.3 Refunds

Refunds for coin purchases and subscriptions are governed by the platform store you bought them through (Apple, Google). We can grant refunds at our discretion for service failures on our side (e.g. a paid generation that produced an unusable output due to our infrastructure failure). We do not refund completed audiobooks once delivered.

A separate refund policy may be published at /refund-policy covering specific cases; if it differs from this section, the more detailed /refund-policy controls.

9. Service availability

We try to keep invoke running, but we don't guarantee uptime. We may take the service down for maintenance, security incidents, or operational reasons. For events we control, we try to give advance notice.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law:

  • invoke is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied (including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement).
  • We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the generated audiobook output will match any particular quality standard.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to invoke is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid invoke in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) €100, in each case to the extent permitted by applicable law.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity.
  • Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (e.g. gross negligence, intentional misconduct, statutory consumer rights in your jurisdiction).

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold invoke harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of the content-rights warranty in § 6.2 or your acceptable-use obligations in § 7.

12. Termination

  • By you. You may delete your account at any time via the in-app deletion option (where available) or by emailing privacy@invoke-books.com.
  • By us. We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach of these Terms (including § 6.2 content-rights and § 7 acceptable-use violations), unpaid balances, or where required by law. We aim to notify you and give you the chance to respond.
  • What survives. §§ 6.3 (limited to the licence we held while you used the service, for the durations in the privacy policy), 10 (liability limits for the period of use), and 13 (governing law / disputes) survive termination.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought before the competent courts of Serbia.

Nothing in this section affects mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence within the European Union; those rights continue to apply.

14. Changes to these Terms

We update these Terms when our service or processing changes.

  • Material changes are notified at least 30 days in advance via in-app banner and email to your account email.
  • Non-material changes are published with the "Last updated" date bumped at the top.
  • Historical versions are retained at /terms/v1, /terms/v2, etc.

Continuing to use invoke after a material change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't accept them, please delete your account before they take effect.
